Every trace instruction we receive from one of our Retail Finance clients is as a result of an unsuccessful repossession attempt by their previous agents, in this run of the mill instance we undertook the first trace at the end of August 2011, having since received 63 trace instructions in total, delivering a success rate of 96%.

Moreover in terms of unsuccessful repossession attempts by previous agents, and subsequently forwarded to us the customer has recovered over £31,000 as a direct result of our trace enquiries. Seven vehicles have been repossessed totalling over £20K and six customers have settled, totalling over £11K.

A client in Australia was trying to find his brother way back in 1964 however he did not go to an agency and was unsuccessful. In late November 2011 the client rekindled the search for his brother through WM Investigation.

The result being that sadly his brother in the interim had passed away, however we did located the nephew of the client. Who quoted to WM Investigation, “Actually they were searching for me in 1964 but had no information – pity they didn’t go to an agency, and I could have known both father and brother then. Ah well …. Can’t turn back the clock.

WM Investigation helping lead the way for Hemel Hempsteads’ Town Centre

The Hemel Hempstead Town Centre Partnership (HHTCP) is a new initiative bringing together key representatives from the area’s business community as well as representatives from Dacorum Borough Council and other community groups. WM Investigations director Malcolm Maycock is a key member of the partnership group.

The official launch of new HHTCP will take place on Wednesday 21 September between 11am and 4pm at the Town Centre Bandstand. Residents and people visiting the town will be invited to help celebrate the launch of the Partnership, find out more about it and meet members of the Board.

The official launch coincides with the launch of the Partnership’s new website www.hhtcp.co.uk. The new website will be the focal point for all activity in Hemel Hempstead Town Centre and highlights all of the work being developed and delivered by – or in collaboration with – the Partnership.

WM help solve £850,000 Motor Fraud

The WM Investigation team have been instrumental in unravelling a complex car sales scam, involving 48 vehicles valued around £850 000, resulting in the main defendant being sentenced to five and a half years imprisonment.

Many motor finance houses fell victim to this fraud, which was further complicated by the fact that the crimes were committed in numerous police force jurisdictions. British Transport Police set-up Operation Brutus and took full responsibility for the investigation and subsequent successful prosecution.

Michael Reed marketing director said “this type of work is bread and butter to our investigation team, it’s another example of the commercial value add that WM deliver to clents.“

WM recently recovered a Porsche from Cannes in the south of France.

Initially the hirer took the Porsche on finance in 2007, but payments stopped completely towards the end of 2008. Other agents had started to try and trace the hirer and vehicle but they proved elusive.

After WM became involved and reported the vehicle as stolen in October the hirer and vehicle were subsequently located in the south of France, WM flew the following day to Nice to recover the Porsche, delivering to a midlands auction site within 36 hours.
